The TV segment and my interview with Gavin

It was great to talk with Gavin from the Greening of Gavin. Gavin is a star of sustainability and has written various ebooks about cheese making, cob oven building  and all sorts of green and wonderful projects and ideas. He lives by his words and manages to have chooks, fruit trees and vegetables as well as an impressive solar power station on his tiny suburban block in Melton, Vic.

Here is the interview with Gavin, with all the stuff that they didn't show on the ABC Gardening Australia TV segment.

.....and here is the Gardening Australia segment, which I was happy with but a little disappointed they didn't show at least a little bit of the deep and meaningful.

I love this, Kate.

I enjoyed your interview Kate, it was nice to "meet" you, kind of! It was a shame they couldn't get into more detail about seeds, I guess they can't get too radical on national TV, but there's plenty of people on the internet who understand what you're saying. I hope you at least encouraged a few more people to think about saving seeds, even if they don't really understand why yet!

Thanks very much, both Pattie and Liz. I hope it does something more than entertain but we can only try.

Hi Kate. The interview turned out really good. So far over 600 people all around the world have listened to this episode, and over the next week we would have reached above 1500!

Now, as Liz mentioned, they will now know that this is an issue, and may even take steps to start growing their own tucker.

With the ABC segment as well, that is a lot of new thoughts in peoples heads!

Thanks for all that, Gavin. You are a star!

I didn't feel I explained that home garden seed saving is the last bastion of the heritage seed biodiversity, on your interview, and why we need such it at all.

Somehow, that night, my thoughts were a bit erratic!

Hi Kate,

I'm a long time reader but I think this is the first time I've commented on your stellar blog.

The ABC segment was good. I thought the hook of ...the seeds look so beautiful on the plant...or words to that effect was clever. It gets people with aesthetics and that's a great place to start. Beguiled then radicalised into action by the great, great beauty of a plant going to seed!

Thanks Kate!
