Geoff Lawton...my latest hero

The man who brought us those videos about finding the ancient food forests in various locations. I love his passion and want to go outside and DO the things in this video TODAY!!

But, why oh why does the price of $36 become $46 at the checkout? People are not supposed to advertise prices in Australia minus GST. All prices must include GST. And the shipping cost of $6.50 is outrageous. Well, looks like all I will ever see is this trailer!!

Hi Kate,

I'm sorry you feel that way. Please let me explain;

Our website is designed for international and domestic pricing. As all international orders are GST exclusive, our prices must be listed GST exclusive. Once you enter your address the system recognises wether your order requires GST or not. This is an unavoidable process. I will however suggest to our webmaster if we can list both GST inclusive and GST exclusive prices on the initial advert to avoid such disappointment in the future.

The postage charged in our store is through Australia Post. We have a contract with them where they charge us a flat fee of $6.50 for all parcels between 0 - 500 grams Australia wide. Which means it costs the same price to delivery one DVD as it does 5 DVDs. I just did a quick calculation on the Australia Post website and if I were to send your parcel through regular Australia Post (ie. at the post office). The costs from our dispatch centre 4300 to Tasmania 7000 for a parcel under 250grams is $5.00. I would then need to add on the cost of the packaging which is 50 cents. So there is a difference of a dollar. I am happy to discount this dollar for you if you like?

Again I do apologies if you think our pricing is not adequate but we are doing our best to accommodate everyone.

New Internationalist (sea sponge place) did the GST additional thing as well.

Not sure how I feel about it.

Maybe people making DVD's should think about a low package option like just a cardboard slipcase.

Not as pretty, but it would be cheaper to post, I wonder if it would be cheaper to produce?

And its less plastic packaging.

Perhaps its worth suggesting this title to the State Library of Tasmania, and asking for it to be homed in Cygnet?

Worth a try they have local history sections, why not a local environmental one?

I'd like to have the option to just download a digital copy, rather than have a physical disc sent out.

DVDs are fragile and not fit for their purpose - one scratch and they're unwatchable! So I copy all mine onto an AppleTV for more convenient watching and to preserve the integrity of the original discs.

I'd love to be able to skip the copying step, save them the production and packaging cost of a physical item, and just download it through iTunes. It should cost a lot less, too, while still giving the author the same profit per copy sold.

It'd be more pirate-proof too - DVDs are stupidly simple to copy, while digital downloads can have DRM to protect them.
